For my art and science creation, I decided to do a painting done onto a canvas with watercolor paint. The image presented onto the canvas is that of what seems to be a tree, as some might even say a neuron. The tree, has its roots painted symmetrically, portraying the possibility that either or can be the tree or the roots of the tree. This colored painting represents the conceptuality of the quantum theory and serves as a purpose to question the scientific foundation known to date. I was mainly inspired by a local park within the region in which I live in, the idea of a tree came to me as a simple and yet complex idea, as it was not easy to draw nor paint a proper representation of a tree, I did my best to make it seem as though both the possibility of the tree and the roots of the tree can exist simultaneously.
My art and science creation, contains small details few might realize, although I tried to stay vague, in order to present a sense of mystery into the painting. I included protons, neutrons, an atom and the thoughts of those who we can say are the base of the quantum theory. As apples on a tree, they represent several different conceptuality highly common in the scientific fields. The tree and roots themselves symbolize the origin of science and past and future scientists. More specifically half of the painting represents all the scientific ideas, creations, theories, etc. While the other half represents the ideas of all the thinkers, physicists, scientists, philosophers and the idea that either or can be the product of the seed, in this case the tree itself, and what we see when we look at a tree or the roots of the tree, the source of its product. The conceptual part of the painting is left to the viewer, and is his or her responsibility to determine which way the painting goes, which way is up and which way is down. As it is also his or her responsibility to determine who came first, the creation or the creator? A question no one truly has the answer to and as it might not be important to some, I find it important to ask ourselves this question. In hope of the realization that we might or might not be responsible for the great minds of mankind's history, or simply the fact that we are learning theoretical ideas, that one day might be proven wrong. My painting has no purpose to invoke nor criticize the great minds, hard working scientists and especially not the teachers of our generations, but to simply plant a seed into the minds of those willing to ask themselves the same question I ask myself, a simple and yet complex way to allow everyone to think and have a new aspect on the conceptuality's of the quantum theory. So I ask you who came first? The creation or the creator?
