Every element has a unique emission spectrum. That is bright colored lines on a dark background. In the Michael Jackson spectrum, the star is put into combustion. Michael is the representation of an element in this work. The five lines perceived, respectively red, orange, yellow, green, and blue, represent the five decades lived by the performer. Each line takes the form of a famous Michael Jackson dance pose. These forms are in a right to left order from young Michael to older Michael. The idea behind this is to present energy decreasing with age such as energy decreases with increasing wavelength. It is a tribute to a man who, one can say, poured his heart out in his music and added color to the world. Just like an element’s emission spectrum, he is unique.
